Today we will be exploring chocolate. 
- What would happen to chocolate if you left it in your hand?
- Have a go - what is similar or different about the chocolate?  What would it taste like?
Talk about the fact that the chocolate has melted.

TOPIC
- Have you got any gingerbread men at home?  If not you could use a normal biscuit for this.  What would happen to a gingerbread man or biscuit if they were put in the freezer?  Why don't you conduct a little experiment.  Talk about what you think will happen and then put a biscuit/gingerbread man in the freezer.  Leave it there for a few days and then take it out - is it the same or is it different?  How does it taste?

Our activity for today is to try and create a bridge for the Gingerbread Man so he can cross the river without getting wet.  Remember to make sure the bridge is strong.  What about if the river was frozen, what could the Gingerbread Man do then to get across the river?

Can you make a shield or a sword?  Mrs Hollier has cut her sword out of card and then covered the blade in silver foil to make it shiny. ​

To make her shield Mrs Hollier has cut out the shield shape decorated it and  then she has attached a small cardboard handle to the back of the shield to help her hold the shield. 

TUESDAY 2nd MARCH

 Your task today is to make a castle out of Junk modelling materials.  Create your own design or you could watch this video and see if you can follow the steps.

MONDAY 1st MARCH

MONDAY 1st MARCH

Mrs Hollier reads the Story of George and the Dragon. Perhaps you could draw a dragon to go in your castle. 
Below is a video looking through a non- fiction book about castles and knights.  This helped Mrs Hollier label her picture of a castle. Maybe you could find a book on castles or use the internet to help you label your castle.

Please make sure you have done the creative challenge of drawing you castle before you take on this task.

Can you make a boat that floats?  If your boat sinks why did it sink ? Here is Mrs Bradshaw showing you some of her boats that she has made. Which one would you prefer to sit on? ​

Today we are looking at houses and what makes a strong house.  Have a look at the video below. Can you make a house like the one Mrs Bradshaw has made?  Which house is the strongest?  Which house would the three little pigs like to live in? 

WEDNESDAY 24th February 

Floating and Sinking what does that mean? 

If an item floats it stays on top of the water, if it sinks it goes below the surface of the water to the bottom. 
Can you find items around your house and guess which ones will sink and which ones will float? 
Can you test them to see if your guesses are correct?

FRIDAY 26th FEBRUARY 

We would love to see you act out your favourite traditional tale.  Maybe you could make a mask and retell the story as if you were one of the characters.  Perhaps,  you could do a little puppet show.  Have fun and we can't wait to see what ideas you come up with.  Use your wonderful imaginations !

Monday 8th FEBRUARY

This week we are looking at Chinese New Year some people will be celebrating this on Friday 12th February. Do you celebrate Chinese New Year?

On New Years Day many children in China receive a special Ang-Pow envelope. In the video below Mrs Bradshaw shows you how you can make your own Ang Pow.

Yes the presentation helped; If you hit an iceberg then damage is going to be caused.  The gigantic titanic hit an iceberg and the whole in the ship, let in water and the ship sunk.

PSHE 

Have another listen to the 'Lost and Found story on  the EYFS English page. 

At the beginning of the story the boy thinks that penguin is lost, but actually it turns out he is lonely. 

Look at the two images from the story below.
Talk about the differences in how the characters are feeling. How can you tell?  Is the boy being a good friend to penguin?
