This week we would really like you to get to know the area  where  you live.  What is your village or town called?  What is the name of the street you live on?   Do you have any facilities around your area?  Why don't you go for a walk and see.  Have a look at the video below first  for tips  on what to look for.

Listen to the story of mouse and bear who live in the countryside, they are off on an adventure to the big city.

Here is Mrs Bradshaw telling the story of Handa's surprise.  We hope you enjoy it!

Today, we are listening the the story of Jamal's Journey a small camel who takes an adventure through the dessert.  What do you notice about the story?  Where does it take place?  What is different and the same about this city and some cities/towns you may have visited? ​

  We have learnt about the Antarctic so let's have a look at the Artic.  This is at the North Pole.  Listen to the presentation below and then see if you can think of any differences between the North and South Pole. ​

This week we have learnt about Icebergs that are in the Polar Regions.  We have been asking questions like Aarya the Alligator who loves to ask questions.  Mrs Hollier's question was;

We some information about the Titanic which hit an iceberg to see if this could help answer Mrs Hollier's question.  Watch the presentation before you read below. 

Yes the presentation helped; If you hit an iceberg then damage is going to be caused.  The gigantic titanic hit an iceberg and the whole in the ship, let in water and the ship sunk. 



Can you help Mrs Hollier and Mrs Bradshaw rescue the animals from the Icebergs?
Did you know that we can have fiction books and non-fiction books.  A non-fiction book is sometimes called a fact book.  Here is Mrs Hollier showing you the features of a fact book.​

Here is a presentation of facts about the Antarctic and the South Pole, before you watch this can you tell someone you are with what you may already know about the South Pole.​

Snowflakes

- Get a piece of paper.  Draw around a plate.  Cut out the circle.  Fold it into quarters.  Can you cut out little shapes to make a snowflake?  There is a picture below of a rectangular shaped one that you could
try too.

- Create a winter picture - you could paint this, draw it or create a collage.  You could even collect items from outside to add to your picture.

PSHE 

Have another listen to the 'Lost and Found story on  the EYFS English page. 

At the beginning of the story the boy thinks that penguin is lost, but actually it turns out he is lonely. 

Look at the two images from the story below.
Talk about the differences in how the characters are feeling. How can you tell?  Is the boy being a good friend to penguin?
​If you fancy a challenge you could make a poster showing the differences between feeling lonely/sad and feeling happy.
